In truth, I’ve been brainstorming & creating this list for a good part of the last six months. To me, it is a beautiful summary of lessons learned, memories made, and bits & pieces of the woman I've become over the last decade. I am so proud of who I am and how far I've come over the past ten years, and I think my twenty year old self would be too.

Baby G - it will be more beautiful than you could ever imagine. It might not amount to forever, but he will forever be a glowing example of a stand up guy. You will always look back and be proud you went.

Your career does not have to be your passion.

Friends will come & go. They do not have to be in your life forever for it to have been a meaningful & real connection.

Men will also come and go. And don’t wait till you’re 29 to do it.

You will never regret going to a concert.

Talk to the stranger at that Bluemercury event. This is a new style of post, but one that I think might find itself a permeant place here on Faith & Fancy. It was born out of a need and want to share all these things & ideas that are floating around in my head, and not knowing how to get them out to you all. It's basically a brain dump of new & noteworthy things that I've been meaning to share, or things that seem more urgent ... and by urgent I mean great sales that must not be missed!

If this feels unorganized and all over the place, it probably is. ha. Welcome to the inside of my mind! Nonetheless I think it's the most efficient way to get out the variety of things I think are worthy of sharing. I hope you enjoy!

If you like this format, let me know! Already thinking of making it a more regular thing, or do I dare say, shifting it into a fun newsletter. Xx.

Of note...

Jenni Kayne Sale

There was a Jenni Kayne sale last week... it is sadly over, but couldn't help but share the things that caught my eye! Threw in a few that are already personal favorites too - do yourself a favor and snag this candle. You can thank me later.

<img onerror="this.parentNode.innerHTML="Disable your ad blocking software to view this content."" src="https://assets.rewardstyle.com/production/6242bad0c3667296e2deb5fbe2eba308b92ded89/images/search/350.gif" style="height: 15px; width: 15px;" />JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Hill House always creates the most perfect holiday collections & this year is no exception. All the tartan, tulle, and lace fabrics are what holiday dreams are made of! The Shopbop sales are some of the best in the game, and in true fashion this one has some exceptional pieces. My advice is always pretty consistent when it comes to tackling these sales - in my opinion, now is the time to either stock up on basics, i.e denim, outerwear, footwear, or it's the time to splurge on something that is a higher ticket item.

Regardless of your strategy, you can't go wrong! As mentioned, so many good pieces included in this style event. I sifted through the many pages to bring you both my personal tried & true favorites, and some that I think are to die for this season. All white looks have a special place in my summertime wardrobe, but if I’m being honest, I like them even more in the fall. To be seasonally appropriate, I tend to shift more towards cream or ecru versus crisp white & love playing with different textures to keep visual interest. There is just something so chic about dressing in all neutrals. I feel like I can take on the world! Don't you agree?

xo. The color red is having a moment right now! If you haven’t noticed yet, I promise you are going to start seeing it everywhere. Red is hot hot hot right now!

I am personally here for it. I love a pop of red in the form of a red lip or a classic red nail, so I am excited to experiment with it a little bit more beyond those go-tos. Red is such a bold color, so I understand if it feels overwhelming to rock it head to toe - to be honest it’s almost even more fun in little pops here and there. Love it when used to accessorize a look ... it’s almost like an exclamation point on an outfit!

This post was inspired by this exact pair of ballet flats in a beautiful, rich scarlet color. A red ballet flat is a perfect & easy way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe this season, but any of the above will surely do the trick. These coming weeks are the last hoorah before we commit our feet to boots, or at the very least very closed toe shoes, for the next six months. I personally like to take this short window as an opportunity to go big or go home when it comes to styling my feet (& take it as an excuse to pick up a new pair or two!) These are a few early fall shoe styles that have been catching my eye for one last stroll around the block!

xo. One that I have never felt quite confident enough to answer. Upon hearing the question, my answers slowly simmer inside - I know them, they are there - but there's a doubt keeps me quiet. A tiny voice that says, but they aren't quite big enough, or important enough, or good enough.

I was asked recently what my passions are, but was saved from answering by a swift change in the course of conversation. But it's a moment I've kept coming back to in the days following.

I know the answer to this question. I have many passions. Sure maybe they aren't grandiose and world changing things, but they are mine. I am me, in part, because of them.

So the next time someone asks me what my passions are, I won't shyly deflect or let a the conversation veer elsewhere. I will instead say this;

I have a passion for running & for the community of people who call themselves runners. For how it makes me feel like the best version of myself, and for how running alongside this community makes me feel part of something bigger.

I have a passion for skincare. I could talk all day, share all day, and learn all day. I'm intrigued by the art of keeping oneself youthful, and the beauty in caring for yourself.

I have a passion for beautiful interiors, perfectly curated aesthetics, and everything & anything that attracts the eye. I am drawn to & enamored by a world driven by making the spaces we surround ourselves in visually appealing.

I have a passion for a food. And not just a passion for good food, but the whole experience it creates. How it brings people together, it defines cultures... how it keeps you alive, both body and soul.

Lastly, and maybe most importantly, I am very passionate about New York City. More specifically, I will always defend it being the best place on earth. I will die upon that hill.

Lean into your most authentic self & don't let anyone for one second make you question it. Next time someone asks you what your passions are, how will you answer?

xo.
It always feels a little bit unnatural talking about fall before Labor Day weekend has come and gone, however I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little bit excited for what's to come. As we all know, I'm a summer girlie through and through, but as the summer starts to wane, I can start to appreciate the changes that a new season brings in.

More specifically, I get giddy when I think about the slow shift in our wardrobes from summer to fall. Pre-fall to me is always a little mix of each season - it's the best of both worlds - pieces to wear now & later, shorts & sweater weather. It's the sweet spot really - when we get to enjoy the mixing of the two, in my opinion, best seasons.

As the summer comes to a close, and I start to slowly shift gears towards thinking about fall style, I try to be very intentional with any shopping. I want pieces that are both appropriate for right now and later in the season, and I want them to be pieces I will use & love for years to come. That is how you build a collection of pieces you not only love, but will also grow with you. And that's the goal friends. Happy shopping!

xo. Well I've got you covered. The South of France is a luxe travel destination but with its proximity to the Mediterranean there is still a breeziness to the styles worn. Think lots of linen, flowy dresses, swimwear & chic coverups, straw bags galore, and stylish sun protection.

I've been to the South of France quite a few times and I've learned a market tote, a great pair of linen pants, and a chic swimsuit - that can work on & off the beach - are essentials. I had so much fun shopping for and packing for my trip this summer, and I must say I think I nailed it in the wardrobe department. I South of France and I are a match made in heaven... shocker!

With that being said, I am confident I can advise on what to wear in the South of France. Below is a combination of pieces I did pack/wear and some that did not make it into the suitcase, but would be perfect for the Côte D'Azure. If you find yourself planning a trip, let this be your go-to for packing inspiration! Happy shopping xx.

Don't dwell on the fact that with time it will end, love it more because you know it will. Love who you are during this season, because that will change too. Different seasons of life bring different versions of us. Different but better, as we are always growing and evolving into our truest self. However, I am not opposed to introducing something new, and when I find a new scent that I love, you can bet it's coming home with me.

So, let me introduce you to my most recent discovery & a scent I know will become part of my permanent collection for many springs moving forward. I am a lover of pretty much anything and everything that Jenni Kayne does, and her candle line is no exception. There are a couple scents I already know and love, so not surprising that this one is joining the scent party.

It is currently sitting on my kitchen table, which is where I am writing from, and it's romantic aroma is filling the space - not even burning it, I might add. Bergamot, cassis, white rose, and oakmoss make up the scent profile, and let me tell you - it is good people. I smelled it at the Madison Avenue shop today & thought, yes, yup this is going to be my scent for spring. Which, what appropriate timing - happy first day of spring, by the way!

Scents are so special & so personal, and I am excited to have a new scent to match a new season, both literally & in my personal life. I have a feeling that in years to come, when I burn this candle, the scent will take me back to the here & now. It will remind me of a chapter that marked a new beginning and fresh start for me. I already know I will smell it & smile fondly. Xx.

Stripes have forever been are a classic. They are a wardrobe staple and a pattern that offers endless versatility & possibility. I personally have always been drawn to a good stripe, and if it's a blue & white stripe, well I'm done for. I'm a total sucker for classic aesthetics.

I've noticed blue & white striped pieces popping up more and more lately, and I'm finding myself even more attracted to them than normal. Many of my online shopping carts currently have a striped piece or two sitting in them & they are all the inspiration for today's post. Remember, if you're ever in a wardrobe rut, a classic navy & white tee with jeans is always a good place to start. I’m not going to delve into my thoughts on it more because she does such a fantastic job doing so, and also because I think the prompt itself is very self explanatory. I will however, encourage you all to subscribe to the (free!) weekly newsletter for more thought-provoking & inspiring conversations!

As I read her piece, I started thinking about a similar gratitude practice that I wrote a blog post about at the end of last summer. The idea being that nostalgia for the past can help remind you to enjoy the present - more specifically, that the chapter you are living in right now, you will someday be nostalgic for.
They are different ideas, yes, but very similar in the sense that they both use the past the help remind us enjoy the present. If you’re looking for a reminder to slow down, soak in the present, and really enjoy the here and now, I encourage you to read both pieces. They tie together beautifully - what you have right now is what you once wanted at some point in the past, and what you have right now you will someday feel nostalgia for in the future.

It is food for thought for sure & an excellent reminder to be grateful for the present. Xx.

p.s. There were beautiful moments of joy of course, but there was this overwhelming heaviness & at times paralyzing sadness. There was a lot of grief & mourning for a season of my life that unexpectedly & suddenly ended, without an ounce of warning or explanation. A big chapter closed & it took with it one of my most valued and important relationships. To say it was heartbreaking, would be the understatement of the century.

I think it goes without saying, that the fresh start of a new year was something I welcomed with open arms. Twenty twenty three is the fresh start I desperately needed - a chance to rebuild, to find myself again, and to look forward on this new chapter with optimism & excitement. The universe knows best. I have always believed that, and I know that good things are coming.

At the start of every new year, I make a to-do list of the things I want to do in the coming 365 days. This year is no exception. I am excited for all that is to come. I am so excited to see my friend marry the love of her life, and I'm even more excited to get all dolled up. The dress code is black tie, which feels super special not only because of its formality, but because black tie events are few and far between these days. I'm worried that the act of dressing up is slowly becoming a lost art, but that's a discussion for another day.

I personally love any excuse to get dressed up and this is the ultimate reason to do so. Sourcing dress options has been the most fun for me, and although I am thrilled with the amazing selection I have found, it is making it quite hard to choose! I've narrowed it down to the dresses above & would love any and all feedback! Which is your favorite? Would love to know.

xo.
