Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone has been celebrating the unofficial start of summer and enjoying this three day weekend. I most definitely have been making the most of it! Can it be a holiday weekend all the time!?

As nice as it is to have a three day weekend and to be able to celebrate with friends and family, I think it is important to remember what this holiday is truly about. I just wanted to take the time to thank all the men and women who have served and still serve for everything they have done for this country and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This country would not be as great as it is if it weren't for all of your courage, dedication, and sacrifice. I promise you that your hard work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. There is never a moment that I am not extremely grateful for all you have done and continue to do to make this country what it is and to keep us safe. There is no way to truly express my gratitude, but I will leave you with this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This day is all about you - you deserve it.

With that being said, Memorial Day has always been the start of summer to me. It is a weekend that reminds me how much I love summer and all things red, white & blue! Not only that but it gets me so excited for all that is to come in the next few months. In the spirit of Memorial Day, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite Americana goodies. There is certainly no lacking in red, white, and blue or stars & stripes!

Enjoy!

Who What Wear X Target

I must say, Target has been killing the collaborations lately.

Yesterday I was out doing some errands and stopped in Target with the intentions of running in and grabbing just a few things (let's be honest, is it even possible to get just a few things at Target!? I don't think so.) My quick stop at Target became a much longer trip when I was pleasantly sidetracked by the Who What Wear X Target collaboration.

For those of you who might not know, Who What Wear is an online platform that provides inspiration and advice related to all things fashion. It was founded by two former ELLE editors, so needless to say fashion is kind of their thing. When I heard about their collaboration with Target, I knew it was going to be good, but I did not know it would be this good.

I am not lying when I tell you every time I turned around there was something else catching my eye that I just loved. It wasn't just the 'aw that's cute', it was the 'omg I'm obsessed with that, I think it needs to come home with me.' You feel me? If you want to know for yourself, head on over to the closest Target and check it out!

As you can see from the above pictures, I ended up buying this dress. The beautiful blush color makes for such a pretty and feminine look. I love that it can either be worn on the shoulder for a playful look or off-the-shoulder for a little bit of a sexier look. I can't wait to style this dress with gold jewelry and a natural leather sandal.

Other things in the collection that caught my eye included this dress and this dress, this peplum tank, these smocked shorts, and this pleated skirt. All such great pieces that are perfect for the upcoming summer months, and the best part is the affordable price. You just can't go wrong. I highly recommend heading over to your closest Target and taking a look before it's gone!

Happy Monday all!

White Crochet Top

Guys, I bought this white crochet top a little while back, and I absolutely love it. It's safe to say that it is most definitely the most favorite thing I have purchased in quite some time now. I've already worn it on a few different occasions now, and I know it will become a go to this summer.

It is all the little details that make this shirt beautiful. The floral crochet, delicate linen, and lace trim come together in perfect harmony to create the most perfect top. I saw it and immediately knew it had to be mine. It was love at first sight! Quite possibly the best part of all of this was where I got it - Marshalls. Who would've guessed right? I don't always have the best of luck at places like Marshalls and TJs, but I guess it was my lucky day. It wasn't a super cheap find by Marshalls standards, but all things considered it was still not a bad deal. Completely worth it if you ask me!

As you can see I styled the shirt with white skinny jeans and neutral leather peep-toe booties (similar here). I love an all white or all neutral look especially during the summer months, and this outfit fits the bill! To accessorize, I went with a neutral leather bag (similar here) to stay consistent with the all white look, and I kept the jewelry simple with a few wrist bangals, watch, and small stud earrings. I love the added pop of color that the blue aviators and red lip provide - it keeps the look fun and summery!

Sadly, I was unable to find this exact top anywhere, but I have rounded up some other similar styles that will give you the same look. The great thing about white tops like these is they are really so flexible as far as styling goes. You can dress it up for a date night, or easily throw it on with boyfriend jeans and simple sandals for a more casual look.

Check out my picks below and enjoy!

Why 'Faith & Fancy' ?

If there is anyone who has been wondering where the name Faith & Fancy came from, today is your lucky day! This has been a post I have wanted to write for a while now, but I just haven't gotten around to sitting down and writing it. I know personally I am always curious about the meaning behind a blog name, so today I am sharing the inspiration behind the name Faith & Fancy.

When I first decided to commit to creating a blog, I knew one of the most important decisions I made was the name I chose. A name is the first thing that people see when they read your blog, and it is obviously something you want them to remember. It needs to not only signify what your blog is about, but also needs to be an appropriate reflection of who you are, since at the end of the day you are the voice behind it all. I knew that if I wanted to take my soon-to-be blog into the future, I needed a name that would stand the test of time, and reflect my future self along with my present self. Needless to say there was a lot of pressure to find a unique, significant, and standout name!

Back in college I recieved a birthday card for my nineteenth (baby, I know) birthday from my roommate at the time. On the front of the card there was a quote that read, "She requires a steady dose of faith and fancy with a little mischief here and there for good measure." To this day I still vividly remember reading the card and thinking to myself that "wow, that describes me perfectly." Of all the birthday cards I have recieved over the last twenty-two years, this is still the only card that stands out to me and that I remember.

When it came to brainstorming a name for my blog, this quote kept popping into my mind, and as you all can see now it was the inspiration behind Faith & Fancy. I was worried at first that people wouldn't understand or that it didn't represent enough about what I would be blogging about, but I soon realized it didn't matter all that much. What did matter was that it perfectly represented me, and as someone who feels they are very true to themselves, I knew that as my blog grew and evolved with time, the name would forever be the perfect fit.

The word faith means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. In all honestly there are a few different things that come to my mind when I hear the word. I think of having faith in God, and trusting his plan for me. I am also reminded to always have faith in myself, to never give up or doubt who I am or where I am going. Most importantly I try to always have faith that everything will work out. Things may not always be perfect but I truly believe with my entire heart that they always work out one way or the other. I have all the faith in the world that the good and the bad are meant to serve us and make us better. When you look up the actual definition of faith it is defined as complete trust or confidence in someone of something. This is exactly what the faith in Faith & Fancy represents - a complete trust and confidence in God, in myself, and in every situation in this crazy life.

Now lets talk about fancy! I whole lot less deep and meaningful as faith, but equally as representative of who I am. I'm quite confident that anyone who really knows me could say I like the finer things in life and I will not disagree with them there. I enjoy eating in fancy restaurants, dressing well, traveling, staying in nice hotels, etc, etc. In simple words, I like fancy things! I think if you work hard in life then you should be rewarded now and again! This is not to say that my entire life revolves around fancy things, because it by no means does (& is not the most important). Life is all about balance, but if being fancy from time to time brings you happiness, then I say go for it!

I hope you have enjoyed learning about the inspiration and meaning behind Faith & Fancy, and I hope that you can encorporate a little faith and a whole lot of fancy into your life! As always thanks for reading!

SoulCycle

I am so happy to anounce that the other night I had my first SoulCycle experience! My first impression: love everything about it.

I have been dying to get to a SoulCycle class for quite some time now, but for a while the closest studios were in Manhattan. Needless to say dropping in for a class was unfortunately not the most convenient. However SoulCylce has finally made it's way to Connecticut with two studios, one in Westport and the other in Greenwich. Although they are still not the closest to me, it is still much more doable than the city!

I have always been a very active person. I love to run & work out. It keeps me happy, keeps me sane, and keeps me fit. Growing up I was a competitive gymnast, and for twelve years my life revolved around all things gymnastics. I credit gymnastics for instilling in me this need & love to be active. When I graduated high school, I decided not to continue on with collegiate gymnastics. Not having the structured workouts that gymnastics provided forced me to find new ways to exercise and stay fit. At some point while trying to figure out a new workout routine, I decided to give spinning a try. I knew immediately that it was something I really liked and could easily incorporate into my exercise regime!

That first ride was my sophomore year of college, and to this day I still love cycling. There was just something about the combination of the music, the group atmosophere, and the amazing workout that got me hooked. I love that after even just a fourty-five minute class, I walk away feeling like I got an amazing workout and knowing I did something good for myself.

When I first heard about SoulCycle, I knew I had to go. The concept of having a workout that is good for you body and your soul had my name written all over it. That in combination with riding to killer music in a candle-light room with a super motivating spin instructor was very appealing to me.

Although it took me a while to get around to going, let me tell you, it lived up to all the hype. I now know why people swear by it and why it has become so popular. The workout itself was everything I wanted it to be and then some. I absolutely got a great sweat out of it & was sore the next day - can't complain about that! Everything else about Soul was top-notch. The instructor was amazing, the staff were all super nice & friendly, the studio itself was very well designed & clean, the bikes were awesome - overall the atmosphere of the entire place was just very cool. You are definitely getting more of an experience than just a spin class. Needless to say, I will most definitely be going back!

Nothing gets me motivated to exercise like a cute new workout outfit, so I thought I would share some of my favorites! Regardless of if you are cycling or taking part in another form of exercise, there is no better way to feel confident while doing so than by looking good! Check out my picks below and go out there and get moving!

{p.s. My apologies for this being my first post in two weeks! I was extremely busy with the end of the semester and finals, and Faith & Fancy was put on the back burner. I am hoping to get some great content on in the next few weeks before my summer gets super crazy with classes and clinical. As always thank you for stopping by and reading when I do post, it means the world to me!!

Hello May!

Hello May!

I honestly cannot even believe it. Where did you come from!? Seriously. I swear I still feel like New Years was yesterday, and yet here we are four months later. I am not complaining one bit however as I am more than thrilled to see you, and I am extremely glad to say goodbye to the last few months. There are quite a few reasons why I am welcoming what is to come with open arms. The arrival of May means a few things to me. For one, we are that much closer to summer (!!), I am pretty much two-thirds of my way done with nursing school, and I am one month closer to Europe. All things to celebrate if you ask me.

I hope you all are just as excited about May's arrival as I am. Here are some things that are catching my eye.

Enjoy!

Me Before You // If you haven't seen this movie trailer yet, go watch it! It looks like it is going to be one of those films that gives you all the feels and makes you want to simultaneously smile and cry. The movies (and books) that have the ability to make you feel things always end up being some of my favorites. Also, for those of you who may not know, this film is based on a book, which I intend on reading before the release of the movie. It comes out in theaters June 3rd, so you all know what I will be spending the next month doing!

Read This When You're Feeling Bad // The title of this article really says it all. I came across this when I wasn't particulary feeling great about things, and boy did it turn my attitude and perspective right around. I don't think you necessarily need to be 'feeling bad' to read this and take something positive away from it. It's message is universal and a reminder I think everyone needs from time to time. If you get nothing else out of the entire article, just don't forget this: "Feel alive. Be alive. Live."

73 Questions with Taylor Swift // So, I am totally late to the game I think, but these 73 question interviews are so fun. I just happened to stumble upon Taylor Swift's interview, who appeared to be the most recent, and then proceeded to watch Reese Witherspoon'sBlake Lively's, and Anna Wintour's 73 question interviews as well. I'm hooked! Such a fun way to get a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous. I also am extremely happy no one is knocking on my door asking me 73 questions because it would take me ten years to answer just one question...

Marg Recipies // In case you forgot how quickly Cinco de Mayo was approaching (guilty), it is this Thursday. I think margaritas are the first thing I associate with the day, so I thought it would be fun to share some different recipes to test out! You can never go wrong with a classic marg, but it is always fun to switch it up and try something new. I am such a sucker for a spicy jalapeƱo marg, but also how good does this blood orange recipe sound.. I may just have to give them all a go!

Taco Recipes // ...and here are 15 different taco recipes for you to try as you sip those margs. It just wouldn't be Cinco de Mayo without them!
