Summertime Reads

Summertime is one of my most favorite seasons for starting (and finishing) new books. I still remember being a kid and going to the public library in town to pick out new books to read for my summer reading. As a kid the library gave out rewards for reading a certain number of books each summer, and although there are no rewards anymore, taking the time to start a new book or read for an hour is a treat in and of itself. There is just nothing better than sitting out on a porch with a cup of coffee and book in hand or reading the day away on the beach. The perfect way to get a little R&R.

With summer upon us, I thought I would share some of the books I want to get through this summer. Some of these reads are new and some have been sitting on my nightstand for months now, but nonetheless I can't wait to dive into them. It's easy to get caught up in the happenings of life especially in the summer when there are so many things going on, but I think it's so important to take the time for yourself to sit down and read, even if it's just for a half hour or so. I know it's something I am not always good at, but I hope to make it happen more often this summer.

Below I have listed all the books featured in the above photos. There is quite the assortment, so most definitely something for everyone. Check them out and enjoy. Happy reading!

The Kitchen House // A recommendation from my mother. She is the queen of reading so you know it's a good one!

Commonwealth // Another one from my mom and her current read.

The Secret Life of Violet Grant // Beatriz Williams is one of my favorite authors and I have love all of the books I have read by her. They are so good and the perfect summer read. I cannot wait to start this one - but am waiting until I cross some of the other books off my list!

The Vacationers // If you couldn't tell by the name, this one is a definite beach read.

Flaneuse // Switching gears a little here. This one is my current read and for all the adventurous, independent ladies out there. Not as light and fluffy as some of the other ones but I highly recommend it!

All the Light We Cannot See // Last but not least! This book has won so many awards and I have heard so many good things about it that I feel like I would be missing out if I didn't read it.

What are some of the books on your summer reading list? I'd love to know!
